The story of Black History Month began in Chicago during the summer of 1915. Carter G. Woodson believed that truth could not be denied and that reason would prevail over prejudice. He conceived and announced Negro History Week in 1925. In 1976, the celebration was expanded to a month. Black history is American history and it should be celebrated 24/7/365.
